LGGLegit Gun Giveaways

How we vet gun giveaways

Every giveaway is checked by hand before it goes on the list. Here's the checklist.

The checks

  1. Real sponsor. The giveaway is run by an identifiable company (a manufacturer, retailer, range or publication), on its own site, verified accounts or a known giveaway platform it uses.
  2. Official rules. We look for rules naming the sponsor, dates, eligibility and how winners are picked. Listings marked Vetted are ones where we've read the rules. "Rules check pending" means it's a real brand and we haven't finished reading them, and the card says so.
  3. Free to enter. No purchase, fee or "pay shipping" to enter or claim.
  4. No purchase bonus entries. If buying something earns extra entries, we leave it off, even when a free way to enter exists. Bonus entries for following or visiting are fine.
  5. Direct sponsor links. Enter buttons go to the sponsor's page or the entry form it uses. We strip tracking and referral codes and never use "refer a friend" links for ourselves.
  6. Dates. We record the end date the sponsor gives. Ended giveaways come off the list.

What happens to ones that fail

They don't get listed. If one looks like it will catch people, it goes in the scam alerts with the reason. The common patterns are on how to spot a fake gun giveaway.

Money and the list

We don't earn anything when you enter a giveaway. Brands can pay for a featured spot, which is always labeled, and paying never lets a brand skip these checks. Details are on the disclosure page.

What vetting doesn't mean

Checking a giveaway doesn't make us part of it. We don't run, judge or guarantee any giveaway, and we can't promise a sponsor will follow through. Read the official rules yourself before you enter. More about us is on the about page.
